Starz Appoints Christina Davis as President of Original Programming
Christina Davis, who served as head of drama series development for CBS for 11 years, has been named president of original programming at Starz.
Davis is tasked with leading the programming and development team for Starz. In her time at CBS, Davis delivered the network the number one new drama in 9 out of 11 years, having had a hand in developing the CSI and NCIS franchises and series such as The Good Wife, Blue Bloods, Criminal Minds, Hawaii Five-0, Elementary, Madam Secretary, Scorpion, Bull, MacGyver and Code Black.
Gaumont Alum Vanessa Shapiro Launches Nicely Entertainment
Vanessa Shapiro, formerly the president of worldwide TV distribution and co-production at Gaumont, has launched a new distribution and production company based in Los Angeles, Nicely Entertainment.
Shapiro is serving as CEO of the new outfit, which officially debuts its 2020 movie slate featuring romance and holiday fare and a young adult drama series. In addition to Nicely’s initial seven-movie slate, the company is in development on three new series that will be announced later this year.
Eccho Rights Picks Up My Home, My Destiny
Eccho Rights has taken on the exclusive worldwide distribution rights for the hit Turkish series My Home, My Destiny (Doğduğun Ev Kaderindir).
The drama is produced by OGM Pictures for TV8 in Turkey. The series, which stars Demet Özdemir and İbrahim Çelikkol, has already been ordered for a second season.
